If you’ve been living with back pain for weeks, months, or even years — and nothing seems to help — this could be the turning point.
Whether it’s a bulging disc, sciatica, or general tightness from sitting or stress, chances are the root cause hasn’t been identified or properly treated.
At Back Pain Auckland, we take a completely different approach — starting with a comprehensive assessment to finally uncover what’s really going on.
“Shane is very knowledgeable I knew after the initial assessment he knew what he was talking about. My back is feeling way better and I intend to keep at my exercises he taught me. I’d highly recommend Shane
— Tony Compain

Why ‘sleepy muscles’ might be keeping you stuck
When the deep stabiliser muscles in your back stop firing properly — often from poor posture, past injury, or stress — other muscles overcompensate.
These stabilisers are shut off from the nervous system, meaning your body can’t support your spine the way it should. The result? Pain that lingers, flares, or keeps coming back.
In your assessment, we test for these exact dysfunctions — and use gentle reactivation techniques to reconnect those muscles with your nervous system.
This is the crucial first step in breaking the pain cycle.
What’s included in your 60-minute comprehensive assessment
Normally $190 — now just $95 (50% off until 31st December)

Frequently asked questions
What exactly happens in the assessment?
You’ll receive a 1-on-1 movement and posture evaluation with Shane. He’ll test for ‘shut down’ muscles that may not be doing their job — often the root cause of chronic back pain.
Using gentle muscle activation techniques, Shane will start the process of reconnecting these muscles with your nervous system, followed by a tailored plan you can start using straight away.
Is there any pressure to sign up for a full programme?
No. The assessment is a standalone service. You’ll get valuable insights and a clear plan — with no obligation to continue. If Shane believes he can help long-term and you’re a good fit, he’ll walk you through what a personalised plan could look like. But the choice is entirely yours.
How is this different from physio or chiropractic care?
Most treatments focus on relieving symptoms. At Back Pain Auckland, we focus on uncovering the underlying causes of your pain — particularly inactive stabiliser muscles that disrupt movement and create strain. Our method combines nervous system-based muscle reactivation with corrective movement, tailored specifically to your body.
Can this help if I’ve had back pain for years?
Yes — this approach is designed for long-term, unresolved pain, especially when you’ve already tried other treatments without lasting results. Many of our clients come in feeling like they’ve tried everything — and leave the assessment with new hope and clear next steps.
Is this safe for disc bulges, herniations, or sciatica?
Absolutely. The assessment and follow-up plans are built around your condition and comfort level. Shane uses gentle, controlled movements to ensure your body is supported, not stressed. If you’ve received advice from a healthcare provider, Shane can also work alongside that guidance.
Do I need to be fit or flexible?
Not at all. This isn’t a workout or a stretch class — it’s a targeted, therapeutic process designed for people at all levels. Shane meets you where you’re at and guides you safely forward.
Is this suitable for all ages?
Yes. Regardless of your age, this assessment is tailored to your body and goals. Shane has helped athletes, office workers, retirees, and everyone in between.
